Logans First Day of School

Logan started school this month. He really likes his teacher. He told the missionaries that he thinks his teacher is cute. He likes school, his friend Garrett whom he played baseball with this summer is in his class. Logan is most excited about recess, and math.

Logan's Day before school.

We wanted to make the last day before Logan went to school his special day. Logan wanted to go miniature golfing with the family for his special event. We had a lot of fun as a family. Mariah didn't get the concept of it. She would hit the ball run and pick it up.

Introducing Harrison David Mons

Harrison David Mons joined our happy family on August 5, 2006. He was born at 8:19 am, and weighed 6 lbs., 5 oz., 20 inches long.
We are so happy he is healthy and growing.
We took a lot more pictures of him at the hospital, but our camera had some issues, and these are the only ones that saved.
Harrison is named after Tyler's ancestor, Harrison Burgess. He was a pioneer whose history we've read and were very inspired by his life. David is Tyler's dad's name.
Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

Our Garden...

When we first moved to Iowa we met some members that had a local garden on a members plot of land. Monday we went to the garden and harvested a variety of vegetables. Here are some pictures we took at the garden.

Our trip to Pella with Mom and Dad...

Today (August 15, 2006) we took the kids to Pella with Mom and Dad. Pella is a city in Iowa that was settled by the Dutch. We went to a restaurant where all the locals go. After that we went to a park and let the kids play on the swings and the slides. After the park we went to a local bakery, and bought some dutch letters from a bakery that some locals refered us to. Everyone says when you go to Pella you need to buy a dutch letter (pastry filled with almond paste). We made it back to Des Moines just in time for Logan's last baseball game (he was crying towards the end of the game because he didn't want it to end). He said that he would like to play fall ball as well. He played really well for his last game. We are glad that Mom and Dad have been here with us.

Tulip time in Pella Iowa.

Pella Iowa has an annual tulip time festival. Pella was settled by the Dutch. The festival is rich in Dutch culture. The locals dress in dutch clothing and parade the streets wearing wooden shoes. The kids loved the food, and stopping at a local park to play on the swings. We were told when we are there to buy a dutch letter (local pastry). The lines were too long so we went back 2 weeks later bought a dutch letter from a local bakery the residence highly recommended.

4th of July in Iowa...

We really enjoyed the 4th of July here in Iowa. The kids decorated their bikes for the neighborhood parade. We paraded down our street, and up the other street, stopping at a neighbors house for refreshments and food. Later that day, we had friends over for some home made icecream, and water games to battle the Iowa heat. That night we wathed the fire works from our front yard.

Erik's Graduation

Eric Graduated from Marcus Highschool on May 28th, and is now living in his highly coveted Idaho (Rexburg at BYU Idaho). Here are some pictures with him with the nieces and nephews (he loves his title as "Uncle").

Logan's Tee Ball

Logan is in his first year of tee-ball. His team is the White Sox. Two of his teammates are in his primary class. His Grandma and Grandpa came to watch his game last week. Logan hit a ball into the outfield and pulled off a double. His little legs were just moving as fast as they could

Mariahs Birthday

We went to Texas and had Mariah's 2nd Birthday. Grandma from California was there, and all of her friends from Texas were there as well. Mariah never got in the water, she just likes to model her swimming suit.

Free fishing day at Racoon Lake

Last month in Iowa we had a free fishing day. We arrived at the lake around 10:00 AM, and shortly after lunch around 1:00 PM. This was the first fish, that I have caught in about 10 years. Logan caught 2 twigs, and his first fish... it was a cat fish. We had a lot of fun, and enjoyed the time together as a family.

Here is our new site for the family to write about their family adventures, and to keep up to date on new events within the family. I hope you find this useful, and will use it often.
