How To End the Texas Drought

In case you didn't know, Texas has been in a severe drought.  We've had record breaking heat, fires, and thirsty deer.

Since we live on the lake (for now), it was only a matter of time (2 weeks!) before we'd get ourselves on a boat.

It was the first time taking our kids in a speedboat. They were a little more than excited, as you can imagine.

                    
                                  As you can see, Harrison was the most ecstatic of the bunch.

                       We lured him out with a cold drink and soon he was as confident as a sailor....



             

With the wind in his hair and muscles bulging (arrrrriba!), our captain declared that it was time to throw the Mrs. overboard

Although the captain did not trust the Mrs. to take the wheel (it is possible that the memory of the Mrs. flipping him over on a jet ski was still fresh on his mind), he did let his hair down and join the fun.

.... And then the heavens crashed, flashed and poured- no pelted us.  That's right. After 9 months of no rain, mother nature decided that now was the perfect time.

It was actually very scary.  As the glass-like rain pounded on us, we took cover and tried to squeeze in to Harrison's original hiding spot. Many were heard crying, screaming and just plain freaking out. Pretty much everyone but our captain. Men with muscles that big are not allowed to fall apart.  Anyway, that's why he has the Mrs. It was dark, cold, and dramatic.

We finally made it back to the dock and decided we couldn't hold a grudge. We needed that rain.

But really?!? The one day the Mons family decides to get a boat?  We should be used to this kind of irony in our lives by now, but it never ceases to amaze me.

Neither do these memories. Good-bye until next time.
