Logan Basketball ~ 2012 Champs!

One of the biggest anxieties about our move was placing our sports fanatic boy on good teams. After making some personal decisions, we decided that although Logan is super talented in basketball, we weren't going to find him a competitive team to play on. This meant we were taking the risk to play on a team, or even league that might not be challenging enough for his level of experience. We could not be more pleased by his season this year. I feel it was a direct answer to prayer. This was a great lesson for Logan that doing the right thing (giving up competetive sports-in our case) pays off.

The players were plenty tough and competitive and our coach was outstanding. It worked out for Tyler to assist. Man is he hot in a huddle!

As point guard, Logan specializes in reading the court. He knows just when to drive it or make the pass for the assist. He is truly entertaining to watch. We are often approached after games from kind folks who also enjoy watching him in action.

One quality that I see emerging more than ever is leadership. Logan has that ability to inspire the others around him to give more and was key in persuading his teammates not to self destruct when things looked bad. He definately sets the rythm for the team. As one mom told me, "I love it when Logan is in because everyone gets back on track and plays with confidence."

The Rockets went on to win the Finals. At our celebration dinner, Coach Dutch gave each player a scrapbook page comparing each boy to a hall of famer.  Dutch said that Logan reminded him of Richard "Rick" Barry. The description of this player fit Logan well:

"Rick Barry was an aggressive player who would use any means necessary to score and win.  Playing with an unrivaled passion and competitive zeal, Barry was known for his slashing drives to the hoop with such reckless abandon that they either landed him two points, or a trip to the free-throw line."
